John Coburn's new group of work, "Fairlane Marauder", is situated between painting and sculpture. The series of shaped panel pieces resemble mass produced objects in tones and finish.
The design language of automobiles, weaponry, electric guitars and heraldic shields, among other things, is evoked. The work also reflects the playful menace of a culture that has imbued the objects of its daily peacetime consumption with a marshal spirit.
John Coburn lives and works in New York City. He received an MFA from New York Academy of Art and a BFA from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France.
